Course overview

Weldability Sif provide a complete training and certification service to enable those with a basic understanding of

the Oxy/Fuel Gas Welding process to inspect portable Oxy/Fuel cutting and welding gas equipment in accordance

with the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the British Compressed Gases Association Code

of Practice 7 (BCGA CP7) and unlike other training providers, whose courses have to be refreshed annually, our

course will certify you for 3 years.

Do I need to do the one or two-day CP7 Gas Inspection course?

The British Compressed Gas Association (BGCA) states:

Annual maintenance of oxy-acetylene/propane equipment shall be carried out by a person who has been formally trained to demonstrate:

• Sufficient practical experience of related gas equipment

• Theoretical knowledge of the functioning of the equipment, the properties of gases used, the potential defects and hazards which may occur and their importance to the integrity and safety of the equipment

The guidelines that are followed to ensure that this training is up to date and relevant are:

1. A new candidate takes the 2-day CP7 course

2. Three years later he/she takes the one-day refresher course

3. Three years after the refresher, the candidate cannot complete another one-day refresher but must complete the two-day course again

Candidates who have previously completed CP7 courses with other providers must complete the two-day course.
