This course is for learners who have very little or no understanding of the basic welding processes, welding equipment or welding consumables. Ideal for sales teams involved in selling welding equipment and consumables or academics at university where they have had no exposure to practical hands on welding.

Course overview

This one day course gives access to learn the basic theory and practical aspects of the six main welding and
cutting processes.

Entry requirements

Learners must be 16 or older. Learners will also need to be reasonably physically fit as there will be time spent within the welding workshop. Reasonable levels of English and IT literacy will be useful and all learners should bring safety footwear suitable for welding.


What do these qualifications cover?

This course will cover each of the following processes with both a basic theory of the process and some basic ‘hands on’ application:






• Plasma Cutting

• Oxy-Fuel cutting


A full range of welding equipment will be used and learners will be able to identify a range of parameters used during welding as well as gaining a good understanding of the basic welding consumable types and grades.
